Apple Vision Pro: Apple Privacy and Security

When it comes to privacy, Apple does not blink. Like every Apple product and service, Apple Vision Pro was designed to help protect your privacy and keep you in control of your data. It builds on the foundation of existing Apple privacy and security features with new technologies like Optic ID, a secure authentication system that uses the uniqueness of your iris.

Apple announced the Vision Pro at its Worldwide Developers Conference in 2023 and preorders for the $3,499 Vision Pro headset began Thursday morning ahead of its U.S release on Feb. 2. The entry-level Vision Pro comes with 256GB of storage and the same M2 chip that Apple includes in some of its Macs. Apple is also selling a 512GB Vision Pro for $3,699 and a 1TB model for $3,899.

UBS’ David Vogt estimates Apple could generate about $1.4 billion in revenue from the Vision Pro in 2024, assuming Apple ships about 400,000 handsets. Wall Street doesn’t expect Apple to sell it in the same quantities as it does its other products, such as the iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac — at least not at first.

Apple Vision Pro: 7 Things to Know Before You Pre-Order

The Apple Vision Pro is one of the biggest new devices of the year, and Apple’s first foray into virtual and augmented reality. Here are seven things to know before you preorder the Vision Pro:

1. It’s Not for Walking Around Outside

Just because the Vision Pro lets you see your surroundings doesn’t mean it’s a walking-around headset. Out of the box, the Vision Pro will have access to Apple TV, FaceTime, Messages, Mail, Photos, Safari.

2. It’s Not (Just) a VR Headset

From a hardware perspective, the Vision Pro is a VR headset. Instead of a single, fixed, flat screen, you interact with the Vision Pro using multiple different windows that appear to be floating in mid-air and can be moved and resized. This is broadly called mixed reality, and it’s where the Vision Pro comes in.

3. You Can Watch Movies

You’ll be able to watch any 2D video content available on Apple TV+, or anything you already purchased through Apple. Both Apple TV and Disney+ apps will support 3D movies, with dozens available at launch.

4. Pre-Ordering Apple Vision Pro: What You Need to Know

Health App Integration: You can store your vision prescription in the Health app for convenient retrieval. Prescription Lenses: For $149, Zeiss prescription lenses that magnetically attach to the headset are offered.

7. Apple Vision Pro Hands-On

With pre-orders for the Apple Vision Pro headset opening this week, the company is getting ready to launch one of its most significant products ever. Apple’s Cherlynn Low and Dana Wollman tried out the Vision Pro and shared their thoughts on the experience.

Cherlynn: I had been looking forward to trying on the Vision Pro for myself and was mostly not disappointed. But of all the VR, AR and MR headsets I’ve tried on in my career, the Apple Vision Pro is far and away the best, and easily the most thought-out. Sitting up close in the center of Apple Immersive and spatial videos reminded me of Jimmy Stewart’s character in It’s A Wonderful Life: I was both an insider and outsider at the same time. The Vision Pro feels much further along as a personal home theater.

Dana: Basically, you’ll have quite a lot of options to adapt the Vision Pro to your head. Which describes much of the Vision Pro experience, to be honest. In the meantime, it’s harder to imagine using the Vision Pro for actual work. This was a fitting use of the Vision Pro that I certainly did not anticipate.

Conclusion

The Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary product that is sure to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. It offers an immersive and secure experience that is sure to appeal to a wide range of users. The Vision Pro is available to preorder starting Jan. 19 on Apple’s web site, and it will be officially launching in the United States on February 2. With its robust privacy and security features, and its wide range of features and options, the Vision Pro is sure to be a hit with consumers.
